Mid March Halibut fishing – Victoria, B.C. to Sooke, B.C.

As the weather has been uncooperative I delayed the start of my halibut fishing season until yesterday. The weather was excellent, tide great and the fishing excellent. I set up on my usual spot just out side of the 27 fathom shoal and got the lines in the water by 10:00 AM. Within three hours we landed five halibut, three in the high teens and two in the mid twenty’s.  Clearly, the halibut are here and it is time to get out on the water and get the halibut fishing bug. If you love eating halibut, catching them is even more of a blast. The hot bait was Mackerel with a white 8″ Gibbs Delta Tackle curlie tail.

I am giving all of you an opportunity to win a free fishing trip (for Halibut and Salmon)  on May 23rd , 2014 through  my Pro Staff Sponsor’s (Gibbs Delta Tackle) face book page. Please follow them on face book to obtain the details on how to enter.
